On a calm Saturday evening in Circle Pines, the quiet outside Bill’s Gun Shop and Range was broken by gunfire. Police were called to the parking lot shortly after 6:15 p.m. after reports that someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult man who was wounded but conscious. He was taken to a hospital, though authorities did not release details about where he was shot or his condition.
By Saturday evening, no suspect was in custody. The Blaine Police Department, with Deputy Chief Joe Gerhard speaking for the department, was working to piece together what happened. Investigators were reviewing surveillance video from the area and following leads as they tried to determine what led up to the shooting. If the victim dies, Gerhard said, the case would be transferred to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
For a community used to the ordinary rhythm of the gun shop and range, the shooting left behind shock and unanswered questions. As the evening wore on, the investigation continued, with police trying to find clarity in a scene that had turned violent without warning.
