On the evening of Tuesday, September 8, a tense confrontation unfolded in Milwaukee when police officers spotted a vehicle near 39th and Meinecke connected to a recent shots-fired incident in Glendale. The officers pursued the car, which eventually stopped near 37th and Wright. Two suspects fled on foot, but only one was chased by an officer.

During the chase, the officer repeatedly commanded the suspect to surrender, but the suspect refused. The situation escalated quickly as both exchanged gunfire. The 23-year-old suspect was fatally wounded at the scene despite efforts by the Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments to save him. Several firearms were recovered from the suspect and the vehicle.

The pursuing officer, a 35-year-old with over three years of service, sustained a non-fatal injury and was promptly treated and released from the hospital. Following protocol, he will be placed on administrative duty while the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, led by the Wauwatosa Police Department, investigates the incident.

Officials expressed relief that the officer is expected to recover and emphasized that the quick response prevented further harm to the community and other officers during the dangerous and rapidly unfolding event.
