Crews work to extinguish a fire that was reported 11:50 p.m. May 11 in the two-story building on the corner of Sinclair Lewis Avenue and Main Street in Sauk Centre.

The building containing El Mezcal and several apartments was evacuated by first responders from the Sauk Centre Police Department with no reported injuries.

In total, five apartments were evacuated. Along with the apartments, three businesses sustained significant damage, according to a press release from the SCPD. Fire departments from Elrosa, Long Prairie, Melrose and Osakis assisted the Sauk Centre Fire Department on scene.

Assisting on scene were the Sauk Centre Ambulance Service, Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Todd County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Sauk Centre Public Utilities, Minnesota Department of Transportation, Centre Towing Inc. and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
