A man who fled troopers on a motorcycle is hospitalized with serious injuries after a high-speed pursuit ended when a car hit him in St. Paul.
The Minnesota State Patrol trooper tried to stop the motorcycle for speeding just before 6 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 494 near Highway 100 in Bloomington. Instead, the man fled.
Troopers followed the biker, who led them into the east metro. Eventually, the chase went west on Cayuga Street in St. Paul from I-35E when a car at the intersection of L’Orient Street hit the motorcycle, knocking the man off the bike.
The driver of the car fled the scene, according to the State Patrol, and the 32-year-old driver of the motorcycle was seriously hurt.
The biker was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and is under arrest for fleeing police and being a felon in possession of a gun, the agency added.
No other injuries were reported.
