A tour bus carrying the rock band Buckcherry was involved in a fatal crash on a highway in South Carolina early Friday morning.
On Friday, Aug. 21, Buckcherry shared in a social media statement that their tour bus was “involved in a multi-vehicle accident on I-26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina,” around 2 a.m.
We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed, the band wrote on their Instagram Stories. Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life, they continued. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern and support.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation reported an incident in which a pedestrian was hit and killed while standing on I-26 East around mile marker 31, according to local outlets.
After the pedestrian, whose identity has not been revealed, got out of his vehicle, he was allegedly hit by a Toyota sedan and pronounced dead at the scene, per the outlets. All eastbound lanes were shut down for several hours.
The fatal accident occurred as the members of Buckcherry — including lead vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie D., bassist Kelly LeMieux, drummer Francis Ruiz and guitarist Billy Rowe — were traveling for their Roar Like Thunder Tour.
The band’s scheduled performance at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is expected to proceed as planned on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The tour, which is expected to end on Sept. 6 in Orlando, is in support of the band’s 11th album, Roar Like Thunder, which came out in June 2025.
