A 27-year-old Wisconsin man is accused of killing his mother by stabbing her over 40 times before call 911 to confess.

On Friday officers responded to an apartment near West Grand Avenue where they found 56-year-old Lisa Bragg-Hurlburt unresponsive and bleeding.

Michael Jon Hurlburt was quickly located and taken into custody near 6th Street and Congress Street.

Michael Hurlburt confessed to planning the murder earlier that day, and had his mother pick him up at a Dairy Queen so he could have one last meal before getting arrested.

He also told detectives he targeted his mother because she had been mean to him when he was young so he wanted to “make a statement” to his family, according to court documents.

Additionally, Michael Hurlburt claimed he was being “gang stalked” by the U.S. and Chinese governments.

He is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and his bail is set at $1,000,000.
