The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. near West 28th Street and Nicollet Avenue in South Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said multiple law enforcement agencies responded to an incident Tuesday in south Minneapolis.

Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies were met with gunfire while serving an arrest warrant in the area of West 28th Street and Nicollet Avenue.

Many police and law enforcement squads are in the area, and the FBI and ATF have now arrived at the scene. The public is asked to avoid the area, and nearby roads have been closed for the time being.

Additional deputies and Minneapolis police officers were called to help.
