Pedestrian killed in Brooklyn Park crash

A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn Park on Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the crash scene near the intersection of Highway 252 and 73rd Avenue North at about 1:23 a.m. where they found the victim and several car parts scattered nearby.

Police say that the driver who hit the pedestrian left the scene.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a dark gray Toyota RAV4 was heading southbound on Highway 252 when it struck the pedestrian between Brookdale Dr. and 73rd Ave. N.

MSP officials say the SUV has damage to several spots on the car: Front passenger side bumper, a missing passenger side mirror, a missing fog lamp on the passenger side and a damaged passenger side door rain guard.

The Minnesota State Patrol is handling the investigation.
