A driver suspected of being under the influence crashed into the side of the Copperfield Restaurant in Mendota Heights on Friday afternoon.

The vehicle left the road at about 1:18 p.m. and struck the restaurant off Highway 62 and Dodd Road.

Injuries were reduced thanks to the quick thinking of patrons and staff who shouted a warning and moved quickly to contact emergency services.

The adult driver is currently in a holding cell at the police department on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
