On August 21, 2026, just after 4:25 p.m., Officer Corrier of the Elk River Police Department responded to a call about an assault at a home on 190th Avenue NW. When the officer arrived, he found Victim 1 visibly upset and crying at a nearby house.

Victim 1 explained that the trouble began with Harston, her housemate. A verbal argument escalated when Victim 1 went to the basement to do laundry. Harston followed, continuing the argument. Victim 1 locked herself in her bedroom to escape, but Harston banged on the door and even tried to break in with a butter knife. Another adult living in the house attempted to open the door with a screwdriver.

Eventually, Victim 1 opened the door, but Harston rushed in and pinned her against the wall, pressing her forearm against Victim 1’s neck, making it hard to breathe. The struggle lasted several minutes with Victim 1 pushing Harston away multiple times before Harston fell to the floor.

When questioned, Harston admitted to confronting Victim 1 but denied choking her. She appeared intoxicated, with a breath test showing a blood alcohol level of .15. During the arrest, Harston exposed herself to onlookers, leading to an additional indecent exposure charge.
