A Wright County man was sentenced Aug. 12, 2026, after pleading guilty in District Court to charges alleging he possessed multiple videos described in court records as involving child sexual abuse material.
Connor Hibbing Mathewson, 23, of Otsego, pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing pornographic material involving child sex abuse on a computer or electronic storage device.
Court records state Wright County received a referral from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension after a cybertip was submitted Nov. 3, 2024, by Instagram.
The cybertip, according to filings, identified media described as child sexual abuse material uploaded during a direct conversation on the platform.
The account was traced to an Internet Protocol address associated with a home in Otsego, and prosecutors allege Mathewson lived there.
Documents also say that on June 26, 2025, deputies searched Mathewson’s home pursuant to a search warrant. The complaint states Mathewson was located at the residence, his phone was seized, and he was given a Miranda warning.

The convictions on counts 1 through 4 were classified as felonies but subject to a stay of imposition, meaning the convictions may be reduced to misdemeanor-level convictions if he successfully completes probation, according to court documents.
The court sentenced Mathewson to 120 days in jail, with two days of credit, and ordered the time to be served concurrently. The court also authorized work release for counts 2 through 4, to begin within 45 days.
