Reece Wayne Ravenhorst, 25, of Nevis, has been charged after allegedly striking a victim in the face with a cell phone and fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived.

On May 9, 2026, at approximately 9:59 a.m., dispatch received a report of a physical altercation involving Reece Wayne Ravenhorst at a residence located on the 100 block of Evergreen Court in Nevis. A Hubbard County Sheriff’s deputy was informed of the situation and began an investigation.

A witness spoke with the responding deputy by phone, stating that Ravenhorst had become upset that morning during an argument with Victim 1. When Victim 1 told Ravenhorst to leave, he reportedly became more agitated. The witness reported that Ravenhorst was holding a cellular phone when he allegedly struck Victim 1 in the face near the eye, causing a visible cut. Following the incident, Ravenhorst left the residence and was believed to be in Walker.

The deputy subsequently met with Victim 1 and the witness down the road from the residence. While speaking with Victim 1, the deputy observed a small cut above the right eye. Victim 1 acknowledged the argument but expressed hesitation to pursue the matter, stating, can I just think about this for a minute? before ending the conversation.

A dispatch alert was issued to locate Ravenhorst for probable cause to arrest. Neither the sheriff’s office nor the local police department could immediately locate him. Later that day, Victim 1 spoke with the deputy by phone, downplaying the incident. The deputy inquired if this was typical behavior, to which Victim 1 replied it was not. Victim 1 noted that Ravenhorst was on probation and had been told not to return to the residence.

A review of Ravenhorst’s criminal history revealed multiple prior convictions in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, including felony terrorizing and misdemeanor domestic violence resulting in bodily injury between 2023 and 2024.
