On a quiet Saturday morning in Columbia, South Carolina, a routine call about a domestic dispute turned deadly. Police officer Christopher DeLong, aged 29, responded swiftly to the scene after a woman reported a man with a restraining order was damaging her property.

After arriving and learning the suspect had left, Officer DeLong pursued a lead, spotting a man near a vehicle matching the description. Backup arrived as the situation escalated into a gunfight, resulting in the deaths of Officer DeLong and the suspect, Adam Tyler Dowdy, a man with a long criminal history.
