A Saint Cloud man is in jail after allegedly hitting a juvenile bicyclist while driving drunk Tuesday night.

St. Cloud police officers responded to a hit-and-run crash with injuries at the intersection of 33rd Avenue and 8th Street North at around 9:53 p.m.

A juvenile boy from St. Cloud was riding his bicycle southbound through the intersection when he was struck by a pickup truck. The driver took off but later returned to the scene and spoke with officers.

The 36-year-old driver admitted to hitting the boy, according to police. Officers determined he was impaired and that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The boy was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
