Woman dies after van hits motorcycle

A woman died over the weekend after the driver of a van failed to see and yield for her motorcycle at an intersection in Sauk Rapids.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Mayhew Lake Road and 10th Street Northeast at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on a report of a van and motorcycle collision.

When first responders arrived, they found the biker, 27-year-old Meghan Lee Moran, with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to a hospital but died from her injuries, the sheriff’s office says.

The driver of the van, a 60-year-old St. Cloud man, wasn’t hurt and told deputies that he stopped at the stop sign but continued into the intersection because he didn’t see Moran. Upon entering the intersection, the van hit Moran’s motorcycle, investigators say.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
