5-year-old girl dead after I-494 rollover crash

A 5-year-old girl from Oregon is dead after a car she was riding in drove off the interstate in Sunfish Lake and rolled several times.

Officials say the girl was riding in a Chevrolet Express Van westbound on I-494 near Pieper Road around 10 a.m. when the car steered off to the left and began to roll.

Five-year-old Camila Flores, from Salem, Ore., died at the scene, accrding to Minnesota State Patrol She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The 20-year-old male driver, also from Salem, Ore., was injured, but will survive.

Two other people, a 13-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman, both from Salem, Ore., were in the vehicle as well.

The crash closed part of westbound I-494 on Saturday morning. Traffic was diverted to Highway 62; however, the eastbound lanes of the interstate remained open.

The roadway reopened at 2 p.m.
