A crash between a truck and a motorcycle in Benton County on Monday left one person dead.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, just before 4:15 p.m. in Langola Township, a Ram 2500 truck was going south on Fifth Avenue Northwest attempting a left-hand turn to go east on 160th Street Northwest.

At the same time, a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was going north on Fifth Avenue Northwest, and the two collided in the intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle, Russell Hohmann, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the driver of the truck was not injured.

The driver of the truck told authorities he did not see Hohmann coming because of the upward slope of the roadway.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
