According to Police a teenage girl has been arrested and charged after a 43-year-old woman was found beaten to death last week at an apartment in Maplewood.

Maplewood police officers found Georgina Lee Monk dead Friday morning while performing a welfare check at an apartment complex on the 1800 block of Beebe Road. Police officials say Monk had suffered significant blunt force trauma.

An autopsy determined Monk’s death was a homicide by multiple injuries due to assault.

Investigators identified a 17-year-old girl as a suspect in the case. She has since been arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors plan to charge the juvenile defendant as an adult.
